How the legal fee scale works
The Solicitors' Remuneration Order 2023 fixes the fee every lawyer in Malaysia charges for standard SPA work: 1.25% on the first RM500,000 of the property price (subject to a minimum fee of RM500), then 1% on the next RM7,000,000.
If you're buying directly from a licensed developer — the case for most new launches, including off-plan units in TRX and KLCC — the purchase falls under the Housing Development Act and is billed on a discounted Table B scale instead: 75% of the standard fee for prices above RM50,000 up to RM250,000, 70% up to RM500,000, 65% up to RM1,000,000, and 60% above that.
A 6% Service Tax applies on top of the calculated fee in every case.
